Social Festival 09
THREE killer, one-off, never to be repeated events / happenings surveying the current state of play in underground, experimental, imaginative, outsider, and insider art in BRISBANE (and beyond) with an emphasis on the SONIC and ear vibrating, the VISUAL and eye exploding, the INTERVENTIONIST and mind bending. Audiopollen Social Club is an artist-oriented, freeform, sonic, but sensorially promiscuous beast that between 2006-2009 ran over eighty DIY happenings in a concrete storage shelter in West End Bris which have already achieved legendary status for their energising, propulsive effect on the nascent experimental scene and for their subsequent sweet-talking fwd of a whole new slew of adventurous non-conformist Brisbane artists. Audiopollen Festival Curators: Yusuke Akai, Daiji Igarashi, Joel Stern |

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Date: Friday 27 March Ready, Fire, Aim opens its jowls and spits forth an
apocalyptic sensory overloaded dance party - you can and will dance
a jig to this selection of neon flicker noise, hobo swamp jams, kinetic
fury, improvisationalism, delay worship, virus algorhythmics, non-idiomatic
punk-poetry. Atsuhiro Ito (Optron - Tokyo, Japan) - NEON LIGHTSOUND |

| //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Date: Saturday 28 March Dust of the old penguin suit
as the historic Old Museum Concert Hall hosts Experecital, an instruMENTAList
friendly evening of post-jazz scrabbling, virtuoso mindfuck, handmade
hallucinations, groupthink dada, and a frankly ridiculous meeting
of sculptural automota percussion and Japanese bizzaro improv slapstick.
Mike Majkowski (Sydney) - DBASS |
| /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Date: Sunday 29 March A historically over the top
exposition, excavation and explosion of Brisbane's fluxed, frantic,
confounding underground music, noise, art and performance scenes.
Featuring thirty acts of sonic, imagistic and performative creativity
staggered at 15 minute intervals and overlapping throughout the day.
10 HOUR TRANCE is a future "I WAS THERE" event to impress the grandkids
with when they ask about Brisbane subterrain lifestyles circa 2009.
